Before we begin, it’s important to know there is no magic wand or miracle cure to get rid of premature wrinkles, but there are a few things you can do to prevent and reduce them. Today we’re going to discuss how to get rid of premature wrinkles and 11 things you can do right now.
Now we all know that you can most certainly go to a doctor and get cosmetic surgery. We’ll talk about that a little later on, but there are a few ways to somewhat naturally get rid of premature wrinkles, too.
I’ve tried quite a few of these ways, and I’ll tell you, they work.

What Causes Premature Wrinkles?
The answer to this isn’t so cut and dry. There are so many external factors at play here. I’ll drop a few down below, and you can see if any of these apply to you. So what causes wrinkles? Here are a few things:
- sun exposure – sun damage
- dry skin
- sensitive skin
- not drinking enough water (dehydration) / not eating a healthy diet
- smoking
- drinking
- environmental factors (pollution, UV rays, etc)
- genetics
You can see there are quite a few things that cause premature wrinkles. Also, did you know that facial expressions also cause wrinkles? I know, crazy, right?
If you ask any doctor, they will say that sun exposure is probably the #1 cause of premature wrinkles. Not only that, sun damage caused by too much sun is not only wrinkles but:
- dark spots,
- crow’s feet,
- the appearance of fine lines early on,
- age spots
The sun is so damaging, yet still, so many women go out and don’t wear sunscreen. Bad, bad, bad!!
Do you remember being younger and slathering baby oil all over your body and face to get a glowing dark tan?
Right. So all that sun worshipping has now come back to haunt us. What a great way to speed up the aging process! Ha!! If only we knew then.
But also keep in mind that as we age, collagen production slows down too, and collagen is the main protein in our skin that keeps it plump and youthful. A good collagen supplement will help restore some of that loss!
How to Get Rid of Premature Wrinkles
So I’m gonna break this down into two parts. One will be how to get rid of premature wrinkles unnaturally, through a doctor, and the other way, which is natural.
If you choose to go the surgical route, don’t be embarrassed or feel bad about it. It’s your face and your skin, and you need to feel happy about it and comfortable in your skin. It’s nobody’s business but your own how you choose to treat your premature wrinkles.
I really do want to add that before you decide to have cosmetic and or plastic surgery done, please make sure you check the credentials of the doctor and get some reviews as well. A board-certified dermatologist isn’t the same as a cosmetic dermatologist. Be careful.
Remember, this is your face and your life (yes, people have died from plastic surgery), so be careful.
Is plastic surgery harmful?
Plastic surgery includes physical as well as psychological complications. Hematoma, scarring, blood loss, nerve damage, infection, deep vein thrombosis, seroma are the common complications observed. In some cases, anesthesia complications can also be seen. As you know going under the knife is very scary.

Treatments for Wrinkles
Here are a few types of cosmetic procedures you might be interested in. Do your research first, please. I honestly can’t stress this enough.
Here are six non-natural ways to get rid of premature wrinkles. Following this, I will share five more natural and safer ways, albeit they will take longer.
I recently started using a Red Light Therapy mask that I received courtesy of Current Body, and I have to tell you, I kinda love it. You can check them out here.
I notice that my face seems smoother and looks healthier.
1 Chemical Peels
Honestly, it is as painful as it sounds. But the results truly are amazing.
Chemical peels improve the appearance of aging skin by using a chemical solution to remove the outer layer of old skin. The new skin that replaces it is usually smoother and less wrinkled in appearance. During the procedure, patients may experience a burning sensation lasting five to 10 minutes.
The active ingredients in a chemical peel include lactic acid, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid, just to name a few.
2 Dermal Fillers
Not painful and is pretty effective.
I’ll be honest. I had some dermal fillers put in my 11s (the deep wrinkles in between your eyes), and while it worked ok, to me, it just felt weird and didn’t completely fill in those lines. Maybe I was expecting a miracle; who knows? Dermal fillers are also really good for static wrinkles (lines at the corners of the mouth, across the cheeks, and along the neck).
These last 6-12 months and Hyaluronic acid is the main ingredient.
3 Botox
Yes, Botox works.
However, here’s a word of caution: it generally works really well on soft wrinkles and forehead wrinkles (small lines around your mouth, etc), NOT deep wrinkles. Botox usually lasts around 3-4 months, so it’s a bit of a time and money commitment.
Botox is a drug made from a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It’s the same toxin that causes a life-threatening type of food poisoning called botulism. Source: Medline Plus
4 Dermobrasion and/or Microdermabrasion
Both work, but the former is more aggressive.
These are both very effective ways to get rid of premature wrinkles, but dermabrasion is really aggressive, meaning the healing time takes a lot longer, and there is bleeding involved (hard pass for me, thanks!). Talk to your doctor about both before you start anything.
Special instruments are used to ‘sand’ the skin down.
5 Ultherapy
I honestly don’t know enough about this to comment, so I did some research.
Ultherapy, a non-invasive treatment, goes deeper to stimulate the production of your body’s own collagen and elastin for natural-looking results without surgery or downtime.
Ultherapy is the only FDA-cleared, non-invasive procedure that lifts the neck, chin, and brow and improves lines and wrinkles on the upper chest.
6 Photodynamic Skin Rejuvenation
I had to do a little research on this one too.
PhotoDynamic Rejuvenation, also referred to as Photorejuvenation, PhotoDynamic Therapy or PDT, is a process which obliterates abnormal cell tissue by use of a special topical solution called Levulan (or ALA) that is activated by a light such as the DUSA BLU Light, IPL Fotofacial or laser.

The effects last as long as you take great care of your skin. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen.
The American Dermatology Association (ADA) recommends one that’s labeled “broad-spectrum,” because this means it protects against both UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays are the ones that prematurely age your skin, causing wrinkles and age spots, while UVB rays cause sunburn (which in turn can cause skin cancer).

Natural Ways on How to Get Rid of Premature Wrinkles
Now, while these more natural ways won’t necessarily get rid of premature wrinkles, they certainly will help prevent them and slow down the aging process at the same time.
Some of the methods I will share with you here will:
- reduce the appearance of wrinkles
- reduce the appearance of fine lines
- even out your skin tone
- increase blood flow (read-glowing skin!)
- improve blood circulation
- and so much more!
Let’s get to it.
Skincare Products
If you choose the right ones, yes, they work!
Before you try any over-the-counter products or anti-wrinkle creams, ask the cosmetician if you can do a patch test or find out if you can return the product if you have an allergic reaction.
Many of these skincare products and anti-wrinkle creams are fairly pricey! Ask before you buy.
So look for serums/creams/products with these active ingredients in them:
- Vitamin C, Vitamin E
- Alpha Hydroxy Acids
- Retinol Serum (topical retinoids)
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Aloe Vera Gel (or just get a plant and use it fresh!)
Eat a Balanced Diet
The best natural way ever!
We are what we eat. I know you’ve heard that a thousand times. It’s true. If you eat a lot of sugar, consume greasy, unhealthy foods, smoke, drink, well, you guessed it. It will show up in your skin. Sugar is the devil. Sorry! If you have an addiction to sugar, like I do, you can find out how to conquer your sugar addiction here.
Try choosing fresh fruits and veggies, drinking plenty of water, getting some exercise in, and incorporating healthy habits. Making small lifestyle changes can go a long way!
Wear Sunscreen
Seriously.
Do you need to have this conversation? Ok! I don’t care what your skin type is. UV rays are harmful and cause serious sun damage and dark spots. They change your skin texture; need I go on? The sun’s rays are beautiful but deadly.
Now I’m not saying never go in the sun. You also need Vitamin D. Sunshine is good for us. In moderation.
Face Yoga
Don’t knock it til you try it.
I honestly love face yoga. Not only does it actually work, but it feels so darned good too. When you’re done, your face feels like it’s glowing, and honestly, it just feels healthier. I can’t even describe it or put it into words.
I recently ordered a Rose Quartz Roller/ Gua Sha for my face to go along with my face exercises. You can find one at most health food stores or on Amazon.
Head over to YouTube and check out some fun face yoga videos. You’ll be hooked!
Use Essential Oils Daily
I’ve officially become an essential oil nut, and I love it!
I don’t even wash my face with soap and water anymore. I now use a mixture of Sweet Almond Oil and Lemon Oil. This is my combination, but you can mix and match and try your own!
There are many types of oils you can use on your face as a carrier oil to essential oils, including:
- olive oil
- jojoba oil
- coconut oil
- avocado oil
You need to determine your skin type first and then do some trial and error. Almond Oil and Lemon are a great combination for me. Sometimes, I’ll use Tea Tree Oil as well, depending on if I have some new zits pop up!
Ha! Yes, I still get zits at this age.
Another method to try is a gentle baking soda and coconut oil mask once a week to help slough off dead skin cells and promote the growth of new ones! Remember to be gentle on your skin, though!!
Antiaging Skin Care Routine
Find a good anti-aging skincare routine and stick to it. Trial and error will come into play here. Test products and give them a week or two to see how your skin reacts. Not all oils or anti-aging creams are good for everyone.
We all have very unique skin types.
Aging Gracefully is OK
Yes, we’re getting older, and I get that some women would prefer just to age gracefully, and that’s totally ok, but there’s nothing wrong with doing your part to slow down the aging process, either.
But remember, the most important thing, besides wearing sunscreen, is what you put in your body will show up outside of your body. Don’t forget that!

Does the roller derm work? It just looks like it would be painful too.
Hi Linda I actually Googled do derma rollers work to help give you a good answer and while it does look like there are some benefits, it’s not quite the same as microneedling, and both would be slightly uncomfortable in my opinion. Hope this helps
