How to Make Hibiscus Sugar Scrub
Now, I want to share the recipe for this amazing anti-aging hibiscus sugar scrub.
This makes around 12 ounces.
Ingredients for hibiscus sugar scrub
- Hibiscus flowers
- Carrier oil
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup infused hibiscus oil
- 15 drops of essential oils
- ¼ cup hibiscus powder
- 4 or 8-oz jar
How to Make Hibiscus Sugar Scrub
- Add hibiscus flowers to a glass jar of your choice and fill it about ¾ of the way full. Cover the flowers completely with carrier oil. Let it sit for a few weeks, shaking frequently. Then strain.
- Add your essential oils in with your infused oil.
- Then, combine infused oil with sugar. Stir well.
- Mix the hibiscus powder in afterward.
- Put in a container.
Notes
- Essential oils are optional.
- Any carrier oil works. I used olive oil, but make sure to test your skin first. Below are some other carrier oils you can use.
- You can make your own hibiscus powder by grinding up the dried flowers.
How to use this anti-aging hibiscus sugar scrub
- Scoop a small amount of the jar and gently rub it over your entire face, being careful of the eye area as the skin there is very delicate.
- Gently massage into your skin for a minute or two.
- Rinse off with cool water and pat your skin dry.
- Follow up with an all-natural toner or moisturizer.
It’s safe to use this once or twice a week, but not more than that, as exfoliating your skin too frequently can cause irritation and breakouts. Sometimes, less is more.
variations for carrier oils
Here are a few different carrier oils you can use in place of olive oil
- Jojoba oil
- Avocado Oil
- Coconut Oil
- Grapeseed Oil
- Sweet Almond Oil
- Argan Oil
- Rosehip Oil
